According to the legends there is the golden treasure of Kuntu buried in Repovesi. Kuntu was one of the first residents in the northern part of the Vuohijärvi lake area. Once he got so scared of the people persecuting him he dropped his gold and silver into the deep part of Repovesi.
The deepest part of Repovesi, situated at the front of Karhuniemi, is 40 meters deep. The deepest part of the Repovesi National Park is in the Saarijärvi Park, where the lake is over 50 meters deep.
